Raw Gold Trading

Although we usually see gold in jewellery forms, it is naturally found as chunks and as raw gold. More specifically it is an alloy of gold, with several types available. Similar to other gold forms, these are also used for trading after measuring out the weight to determine the value.

Undoubtedly, the natural form has a greater gold content and purity. So, it will be bought or sold easily at a higher rate. It doesn’t have a definite size or shape, quite similar to scrap gold. However, the buyers may not be the same as scrap gold buyers. There are various ways to finalize a deal and continue the trade. But first, we need to know about the kinds of raw gold found on earth.

Gold Nuggets: Irregularly shaped but more like bullion or gold bars.

Gold Dust: Particles or powders of gold.

Gold Flakes: Small bits and pieces of gold, similar to scrap gold.

The composition of raw gold is calculated with the combination of gold with copper, lead, and silver which form the alloy. So, the purity of gold alone may come at 75 percent, regardless of the weight of the form. However, this is still a good quantity for trade.

Depending on the type of raw gold, the weight and purity vary. But the larger the size, the bigger the value. For both the flakes and dust form, we need to collect a good quantity before they are eligible for sale. Yet the gold against cash for these will be around the same as the nuggets, because of their purity. Sometimes, the buyer can get more karats from these.

Many online and in-person buyers offer to buy your raw gold. Check for reliable and recommended sources and talk to them before negotiating a deal. The process isn’t very complicated but secured with proper documentation. The buyers will measure out the gold content and purity to find the weight in karats to offer a good price.
